Tournaments will continue on various weekends throughout the spring and summer. There will be a schedule for known tournaments and open gym times given toward the end of the youth season. There will be quite a few summer tournaments held in Milwaukee for as little as $2 per tournament. We arrange car pools so kids will attend. These tournaments benefited a number of wrestlers last year who improved extremely fast from March to November last year.

Arrowhead High School will also have nightly practices continuing from April into June for those interested in more wrestling. Please take advantage of these opportunities.

Regarding Tournaments

Competing in Tournaments is the best way for young wrestlers to improve rapidly REGARDLESS of winning or losing. Pewaukee’s top High School Wrestlers struggled when they began wrestling as well.  If a young wrestler and his parents can accept the losses at tournaments and not be upset, he will blossom into a champion when it counts the most.  At these tournaments, wrestlers are weighed in somewhere between 8 and 9 a.m.  Then bracketing is performed by adults from the host school to group similar weights.  Typically, grade groupings are 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. In Regional competition, grouping is done by age and birth certificates are required for proof at the beginning of the tournament.

More and more tournaments are requiring or at least recommending signing up through the mail. Sometimes, tournaments are “closed” once a certain amount of wrestlers have entered.  Flyers and applications for tournament will be distributed in practice. They can also be found on this website, or wiwrestling.com under Kids Tournaments in the center of the front page. Fees for tournaments are usually $10 to $15. For most, the USA card which you purchased with you Pewaukee Wrestling Club membership is required.

Please understand that the coaches of the youth program are heavily involved with the High School team and will not be able to attend youth tournaments when there is a scheduling conflict.

WE ARE IN NEED of PARENTS to COACH or MANAGE our TEAM.

(coaching in practice either leading or assisting, managing expense accounts and fundraisers, organizing carpools, organizing team at tournaments)

All other wrestling clubs are run by the parents of the wrestlers.

Pewaukee Head Varsity Coach Ed Kurth will plan to attend some of the tournaments

Car pools to tournaments are arranged at practices.
